Who SOAR Helps
While you help your students achieve personal success, we are dedicated to making your life easier. All of our articles and curriculum materials are built on a foundation of simplicity for both you and your students…
Small hinges swing big doors.
Is Your Focus On:
High School? High schools commonly implement SEL programs during advisory periods or as part of a freshman academy.
Middle School? Middle schools commonly implement SEL programs as their own class or during an existing advisory period.
Special Education & RTI? “Executive function” skills are a significant element of RTI interventions, 504 plans, and IEPs.
At-Risk & Title 1 Students? The effectiveness of restorative practices depend entirely on successful growth in social-emotional skills.
Private Schools? Many private schools use the SOAR curriculum to benefit their students… and their enrollment; parents view SOAR as a competitive advantage!
Common Core? The Common Core Anchor Standards (desired outcomes for graduating seniors) are heavily focused on social-emotional learning skills. Imagine if these elements were explicitly taught as skills, rather than deemed as “optimistic outcomes” of cryptic standards…
Career & Technical Education? Social-emotional skills are consistently cited as the #1 most in-demand set of employability skills, across all industries.

Well then, I have a question for you. You know the story about the boy who cried wolf? Let’s make a minor change to that story; see if you can figure out the twist…
The story begins with a boy living in a village of sheepherders. One day, the boy is playing in a meadow just outside of the village, when he spots a pack of wolves. Knowing that everyone in the village must hide their sheep, he runs back through the village screaming, “Wolves! Wolves! Watch out! Wolves are coming!” The concerned elders checked the meadow.
The elders assume the boy is just looking for attention. Then, it happens again. And the elders come to the same conclusion. Then it happens a third time… and no one paid any attention. Minutes later, the wolves came through and, well… it wasn’t pretty.
Did you catch the slight change in the story? Did you notice how the boy actually saw the wolves before he screamed his warnings?
“How in the world is this related to ’emotional intelligence?'”
YOU are the “little boy!” You are the teacher warning administrators about what is going to happen (and is already happening) if students don’t better understand themselves and others. You know your students need better self-awareness, better self-management, better social awareness, better relationships, and better decision making… better emotional intelligence. But no one seems to listen.
We are here to help bridge the gap between your concerns and the concerns facing your administration. We have scientifically proven, brain-based biology backing every strategy in our resources. The following links will connect you with data-rich information addressing specific concerns in each area…
What Do You Value in Education?
Here at SOAR®, we have five rigorous principles that apply to everything we do.
We Believe In…
- Simplicity Through Efficient Understanding & Systems – We seek clear, relevant explanations and solutions with the least number of steps to be effective.
- Relevance – All products must have a meaningful purpose in students’ lives.
- Joy! – Seeking pleasure in life & school. Satisfaction. Ease without resistance. School is a place we all want to be and our resources must support this notion.
- Originality & Creativity – We must support creativity and student’s natural talents, while also providing the tools and strategies for personal & academic success.
- Personal Responsibility – We are accountable for our own actions (including our mistakes) and insist on integrity; acting in alignment with our values. As we’ve already stated, all of our resources are aligned to these values.
Do you share these values? You probably wouldn’t have read this far if you didn’t. We are co-founded by two teachers. We stay connected to our “classroom roots” and ensure that our resources and services are designed to make your life easier.
What Other Educators Are Saying…
Despite the fact that you are surrounded by hundreds of people each day, education tends to be a lonely vocation; you spend so much time tending to students, rushing to classes, giving assessments, grading papers, and more papers… there is very little time to truly connect with your colleagues. So, we invite you to listen to the thoughts and experiences of other educators, here.
